Heat is all relative

I am getting used to the weather down here. Quite often, it seems to be, not much hotter than a good summer day back home. That is, if you are close to the coast where a cool breeze can blow off the ocean and keep things tolerable. Move inland, even a few kilometers and the temperature rises and tends to stay unbearably warm even at night.
No wonder, the majority of Australians live along the coast. Going deep inland the temperatures are constantly in the high 30s and low 40s on the Celsius scale. (Those not familiar with Celsius, remember, body temperature is 37. work it out from there on your own). Add to that the lack of water in the interior and you can see you have to be a different breed to live there. Scorching heat and the lack of lakes or rivers to jump in and cool off. It is a wonder anyone lives out there at all.
I do want to get into the ‘outback’ and see Ayers Rock and other sites but it will have to wait until I return in a cooler season.
I can do temperatures up to the mid 30s relatively well. Higher than that and I am in constant need of liquids. Keep in mind I live in shorts, sandals and sleeve-less shirts most of the day while the inhabitants seem able to wear pants and full sleeve shirts without melting on the spot!
The one thing, that has me worried, is when it cools at night and drops down into the 21 to 26 range; it is starting to feel cool to me!
Uh oh, isn’t that an average summer day back in Calgary? Will I start to NOT enjoy the weather back home and be one of those whiney tourist types that finds those levels too cold? I hope not. Time will tell when I return at the end of April. Yes, I am staying that long as I am attending the Melbourne Comedy festival!! It should be a blast to share stages with some of Australia’s best as well as other international acts. I just hope I don’t melt on stage if the heat gets too high. No shorts on stage for my shows. I am just too classy for that!! J
Stay warm and I will try to stay cool!
