The endurance of this festival almost took its toll. Shows almost every night with the schmooze party afterward. There is always a desire to hang out with the other acts, booking agents and festival organizers. Even on nights when one does not indulge (or indulge too much), the late hours sap your energy for the next day. Complaining??? Naw, but I am glad it was only a month as I am not as young as I used to be... No really, I'm not!

Catching other comic's shows was difficult with the over lapping times but luckily the festival bar, HiFi, had a late show and many comics popped in to do sets, with the schmoose afterward. On the last night I had the pleasure of seeing the very funny Arg Barker from the USA. A great set and edgy. I like that. He made me howl which is not easy. He is also a cool dude to hang with after the show. Thanks Arj, see you in N America soon.

Now the fest is over and the city feels like a comedic ghost town. So much talent was here and now they are gone. The streets used to be crawling with headline acts from around the world and now only a few locals and myself remain. It is a weird feeling, almost like after opening the Christmas presents and then you sit there and say, "Is that it??" Only this is a much emptier feeling. Next year I will plan to leave at the end of the fest and not stay for 2 more weeks to do a club.

Last week I did a very Aussie thing and bought a pair of Blundstone boots. A symbol of Aussie workers and some of the most comfortable footwear around. Back in Canada they retail for $175.00 to$200.00.
When I found a place selling them for only 59 smackers, I had to get a pair. Those combined with my Aussie bush hat will be present at this years Calgary Stampede. I figured I would represent my new found second home at the big cowboy party fest in July back in my city of Calgary.
Am I becoming an Aussie and loosing my Canadian roots? Naw mate, its all fair dinkum. I gotta go now, the footy match is on! Hand me a stubby!
