Every once in awhile

Close to midnight??

Why is that? I think it comes from the desire to be famous, maybe rich, in this crazy industry we call entertainment, but we want it 5 years ago! The bitchiness comes from frustration when we think we are not being treated right. We have long drives, planes rides, lonely nights in hotels...some of them seedy. Lots of time for anger and bitterness to come to a full boil. Then every once in awhile you get to do a gig that makes you remember why you got into this biz.
A week ago I was flown up to Whitehorse, Yukon with 2 good friends, Scott Dumas and Amon Darnel. I have already written about this but feel it missed something.
We had good rooms, meals provided and a whole weekend to enjoy the land of midnight sun.
Sure we only had the one show and had to stay 3 nights because of the limited flights. So what?
I considered it a free vacation! Hell, just look at the pic! IT WAS ALMOST MIDNIGHT!!

The few people who are lucky enough to visit this incredibly beautiful area do not get there cheaply. We got paid to go!
The show was awesome and many thanks to the fine hospitality of Barry and his staff at the Yukon Convention Center and the hotel. A HUGE thanks to Nancy, my agent for getting us this sweet gig. She is a hard worker knows how to close the deals.

We had a chance to canoe the Yukon River (Amon missed it...thats ALL you need to know). Scott and I golfed til midnight. We met some really cool people and enjoyed celebrity status while we were there. Everyone treated us they way a comic wants to be treated....like a star! Sure it was a small northern city....but it felt damn good!
I doubt I will even get any comments on a nicey nice, feel good entry. So what. Comics bitch too much and I am in a good mood!
Thanks again Nancy!

Hey Mike
I would LOVE to go up north in the winter. I have the gear to stay warm and want to see the northern lights in all their brilliance! I may even try snowmobiling, dogsledding and any other winter things they do. Raised in Manitoba.....cold does not scare me and at least the Yukon is more scenic than the flats around Winnipeg!!
