Well I am back in the world of flush toilets and annoying junkies and beggars on the street. I think I prefer the bush. At least there no one has their paw out for a free ride when you are deep in the woods. There was one persistant squirrel that tried to steal our oatmeal but he learned how hard a well aimed rock can be.....if only we can do that to the street bums that hassle me for money and smokes.
Okay, enough of my despise of the street fakers.
The trip was awesome although mother nature was in a wet, monsoon mood on the last day. At least we had built a good cook shelter with tarps and although it poured buckets, the 3 of us were warm and dry under our plastic shield.
A shitty way to end a trip but the sun did come out to dry off all our gear so we could pack up and head home. I did have a scare in the wee hours of the night. With the sound of rain pouring down I could no longer fight the call of nature. Grabbing my flashlight and rain coat I headed out into the deluge to add more moisture to the forest floor. While midway through my nature break some movement caught my eye. Knowing there were things like bears and cougars in the area I shone my light in that direction. 10 feet from me, staring back into my light was a skunk!! Little smelly Pepe Le Pu himself! Luckily the little stinker was on his way somewhere and did not get nearer or turn and raise his tail. It did make it a little hard to get back to sleep after as my heart rate had definitely gone up. By the way making a hiss like a cat will cause a skunk to change direction and move away from you. I am not sure why I made that sound but it was the first thing to pop into my sleep head and hey, it worked.
After what seemed hours, I did manage to get some more ZZzzs and woke up to glorious sun and no skunks.
The drive back was enjoyable and we stopped off in Banff for a nice sit down dinner....Mexican food. Hmm, I wonder if that was wize. 3 guys just back from the bush filling their bellies with spicy food and getting back in a vehicle for an hour. Warm I tell you, warm!
We did spend one day soaking our weary bones in the wonderful Ainsworth Hotsprings during our camping excursion. A very cool place and the kids love the cave tunnel! If you are ever up in the Nelson BC area, this place is worth checking out! Very therapeutic and the tunnel is like one big steam bath.

just askin: you say " ....hotsprings during our caming experience" so was that "calming...or camping" mrmakk, r u teaching those mini-daryls how to truly relax.... how 2 let go of all the bs of the status quo world >> ohh shit....in the bush too long, lots of pent up opinions (:
Oops, typo. It has been fixed. The hotsprings were calming and it was a great way to spend time on a cool rainy day.
wanted 2 share my "natural" encounter, back in my youth on the prairies i love the fall best and harvest. okay ....maybe not the norm but i loved being in/around machinerery and loved my combine best! Only real problem being the daughter of a sucessful grainfarmer i was not always.... allowed certain bodily privledges, whenever "my" machine was stopped ....alll the boys were heading their trucks over to me. Gawd i was skinny then as i couldn't eat most harvest cause no restrooms (:. Finally on the north place.... and some bush 4 semi seclusion, i hopped the fence and bolted into the bush for privacy. Midway thru nature's call the bush starts rustling....i'm thinking sick-bastards, & was about to yell so when i turned & came face 2 face w/ a porcupine. It was huge....squatting about 8-10 feet away, good thing my pants were down ....as i'd have crapped them (: oh yeah, never go "kitty kitty kitty " to the skunks either, some kind of mate call....or sumthing (:
