Well last night was the Calgary fundraiser show for the victims of Katrina (even though the Calgary Yuks web site says Edmonton??). What a show!! Thanks to all who attended and to the comics of the 30 clubs across N America who came together for this cause. There were 30 fundraising shows going on last night and it was cool to be a part of it.
Cory Mack (no relation) did an awesome job of emcee. She controlled the show as though it were her own and had us all howling with her little quips that she tossed in. What a great choice for the host spot!
Paul Myerhaug was there to represent Edmonton. (he is really from Camrose but Edmonton is his home) Bill MacIntosh was the lone Toronto comic and did a splendid job. I don't think I can use that word for any other comic. Bill, you are splendid!!
:-)
Paul Myerhaug and Scott Dumas did a little song duet that was funny as hell and Scott gave a lot of singers a bit of job security!! Love ya Scott but you are a way better comic than singer although the songs were a cool angle.
It inspired me to invite Paul up during my set to play background music. He sat on a stool, sunglasses on, and did some nice blues riffs that flowed very well with my show. I think I may do it again this weekend with another guitar playing comic as Paul is on his way home. It was a fun new twist.
The comics on the bill were (in no particular order)
Cory Mack (no relation) Me, Alyson Smith, Rob Hawkes, Tony Binns, Jason Fredrickson, Scott Dumas, Paul Myerhaug, Marcus Beaubier (sp?) Bill MacIntosh> I think that was everybody. There were many comics who came down in support and the party after was intense so my memory is a bit fuzzy. If I left any one out let me know.
Off to fetch my vehicle which is still at Yuks!
