The view from my 'hood

This is my last night in my house here in Calgary for awhile . I love my neighborhood. Close to the downtown yet quiet. It is so convenient to the Deerfoot Freeway, shopping, downtown and the airport but with a feel of suburbia from all the green space that surrounds me. I will miss it for the next 3 weeks as I head to the crazy, busy eastern part of Canada to give them a taste of the Makk Attakk.
This is my first eastern tour since I have gone independent. NO, let me change that. I have always been independent on the comedy scene but now I am not bound by rules that say where I can and can't work. This will be my first extended non-yuks tour in Canada and I look forward to the new Comedy Clubs that I will be performing at as well as an old favorite, The Comedy Nest.
I was looking forward to some nice relaxing days to get caught up on my paperwork and writing of my book but it seems my schedule will be stretched thin. I have many friends in the cities of Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto and it seems my off stage calendar is filling up with everything from dinner and lunch meetings to after show gatherings of old pals.
My first stop is Montreal where I will then be taken to Cornwall for a show the following night. They are flying me in a day early which is nice. I can have all day to recover because apparently 2 lady friends from Montreal are driving out to make sure I don't miss any nightlife. There's nightlife in Cornwall?? So much for a relaxing tour. I'll pack an old ball cap so I fit in. LOL
My friend Lisa feels bad I could not make Sharon's Jazz show on Tuesday so she feels compelled to make sure Cornwall does not bore me. This will be fun for sure.
After the corporate show it is back to Montreal the next day. Montreal.... home of poutine (Mmmm so tasty yet so bad for you) late last calls, lap dances (I've heard) and the Just for Laughs festival. Oh yeah, and the language police. I am doing a room familiar to me, The Comedy Nest. Should be a great time as always.
Then on to Ottawa, our nation's capital and Absolute Comedy. I have heard so many great things about this club. It is one of the new ones that has sprung up on the Canadian scene the past few years and is doing very well. It should be a blast. I love the new growth Canada is experiencing on the comedy scene.
Last stop is Toronto, the city I love to hate yet often have a good time anyway. It is a big concrete jungle and not my scene yet I do well there. The Laugh Resort is the club that has booked me and with some of the emails I have been getting, it should be a great turnout. Lots of folks on my mailing list are coming out as I don't get to do that city often enough. I hope to change all that.
I also plan on hitting a couple of the open mic rooms in the old T-dot as well. Spirits, Healy's Einsteins. Look out, Makk is back.

Time to check the laundry so I have enough clean undies etc for the trek.
