The Yukon! I was there for a weekend but only had to work one night. Midnight sun (as seen in this pic. The pink clouds are a reflection of the sunset in front of us) pristine water to canoe, great people and of course...beer! Many thanks to the Chilkoot beer folks north of 60.
There is something that really messes up your mind when the sun does not go to bed, or goes to bed for 2 hours. Your stomach wants the wrong meal at the wrong time. Sleep seems to be a waste. In short, you go squirrelly in a fun way.
Canoeing down the Yukon River on Saturday afternoon, just before the show, was the most relaxing and peaceful thing I have done in a long while. If you ever get a chance to go up to Canda's north...GO!. It is a paradise of nature sprinkled with some of the nicest people on the planet. Hey if you lived there, you would be friendly and in a good mood too!
