I was invited to attend a golf tournament last week with the Canadian Poultry and Egg Processors Council. A nice group but they sound like a bunch of chickens on paper!! They were anything but. It rained most of the day and some of them finished the 18 holes despite the fact it was only 11C (52F).
I packed it in on a par 3. In the pouring rain my grip got slippery. Teeing off, the 5 iron slipped...more like flew out of my hand. It now rests in the bottom of a water hazard. That was when I decided that the tourney was over for me. Of course there wer 7 witnesses that were howling with laughter. Glad I could be such an amusement to them.
I changed into my swim suit, went back and waded in to retrieve but the water was all fresh spring melt water and icy as hell. I made it waist deep and was gasping for air. The 5 iron is still there.
The worst part is I had borrowed the clubs from a buddy. If anyone has a good Edison X5 Plus in a graphite shaft (in a 5 iron) for sale, get a hold of me!
After they took me for dinner and we toured around in an awesome limo bus with a huge stereo system and fully stalked bar. It almost made me forget about the sinking 5 iron...almost.
Off to buy a club!!
By the way, I did win the "longest club off the tee award" and the prize was a pair of rain gloves to improve ones grip in the wet.
