A show change just blew in

I have just been informed that my Wednesday show Sept 28 at the Calgary Yuk Yuks has been cancelled....sort of. As well the show at Edmonton Yuk Yuks have been cancelled....sort of. Chrysi Rubin, the Director of Operations & Talent has volunteered the use of both clubs for a worthy cause- to help a program called Komics Kare. Proceeds from the door will now be used in helping the victims of Hurricane Katrina . As such my Calgary spot has been pulled. Luckily for the audiences, there is a slew of good talent that will take part in the relief shows in both cities.
So while I will not have my regular show, I will be part of the relief show and share the stage with many of my peers. Comics whom I rarely get to work with as we are at headline level and almost never on the same bill.

On Wednesday, September 28, 2005
Simultaneous comedy shows will take place across North America.
There are currently 30 comedy venues and hundreds of comedians who will take part in this fundraiser.

Komics Kare Disaster Relief continues to grow and I have happily volunteered my services to it.

So even though I make no pay (nor will the other comics) that night I will feel lucky to be where I am. Safe, warm and with food on the table and my family safe. There are many in the hurricane area that have lost so much that is hard to imagine being in their place. We all must pull together to help those in need. As far as I am concerned, we are all one race-human. And we are all one country- Earth.

I do wonder why the American government which can assemble and move an attack force, for invading other countries, so easily was so slow to come to the aid of 10's of thousands of their own countrymen/women?

More and more comedy is being used to help those in need and this is a disaster unlike any I have seen in North America. Perhaps it is everyones need to laugh to help face such tragedy.
I am not sure which other comics are confirmed ( I have some hunches and rumors but will not jump on that just yet) on the bill but will post all the information as it becomes available.

More on this comedy effort will also be posted on my show page once I get the press release info.

If you are near any of the clubs that are participating, please come down for a great cause and a great show.

I had the pleasure of visiting New Orleans years ago and it was one of the most interesting and fun places I have ever been to. Seeing the devastation on the news really shocks me as all that I had enjoyed seems to be gone. Lets all hope the 'big easy' can rise from this tragedy to become the wonderful place it once was. Lets also do what we can to help those that were caught in Katrina's wrath.
